James – three month update

James is three months old already!  Where does the time go?  I cannot believe it’s been three months since we met our little stud muffin! James is a happy guy.  He is thankfully starting to outgrow his rage/fussy time at night, which is great.  He is full of smiles and laughs and “talks” all the time.  He loves being outside and it’s pretty much a guaranteed way to get him to stop crying.  James is always moving his arms and legs and is rarely still.  He loves his big brother and I love watching their relationship grow and change!  James loves playing peek-a-boo with his dad, and lets out these big laughs when he sees Pat.  It’s adorable and makes us laugh every time.  James loves to eat and is a tank.  He’s wearing mostly six month clothing, and already busting out of a few outfits! We are so in love with our little man and are looking forward to what’s to come this month!

Mother’s Day 2014

We had a great Mother’s Day this year.  Sunday morning dawned sunny and warm, so we packed up the boys and headed to the beach. We played in the sand, dipped our toes in the (freezing cold) water and just relaxed in the sun.  As I’ve mentioned before, I always feel just a little bit closer to Brienna when I’m near the water.  So walking along the beach with Pat and our boys while taking in the sights, sounds and smell of the ocean just felt good for my soul.  It was perfect.

I had hoped for a peaceful afternoon at the cemetery, but with two kids, it didn’t quite happen as I envisioned! Pete was running around trying to pick flowers off the other graves, James was crying and it was just a bit chaotic.  I was sad about it for a bit, but then I realized that it’s just part of life with kids.  I am so incredibly blessed to be a mom to Brienna, Pete and James.  My boys make me happier than I ever thought possible, even amidst the chaos.  And I like to think that Brienna was smiling down on her family and feeling the love we all have for her.  She started me on this journey of motherhood, and I’m forever grateful to her for giving me such an amazing gift.  I am constantly amazed at how much love my heart can hold for my kids.  I am one lucky mom.

Happy 3rd Birthday Pete!

Our biggest little man is 3!  I literally cannot believe he is already three years old.  We celebrated his birthday with a trip to the NE Family Fun Festival and then a “party” at our house with our parents and sisters. Pete was spoiled rotten with presents, and is so lucky that his family loves him so much!

Pete goes to preschool three days a week and loves it.  He can be shy at times when he first meets people, but his teachers jokingly call him “the president” because of the way he charms them.  Pete makes them (and us) laugh on a daily basis.  He talks nonstop (literally) and has the worst RI accent – we are hoping to rid him of it soon!  He tells these tall tales that sometimes make no sense to anyone but him; his imagination is incredible and constantly amazes me.  We love watching him play with his trucks and/or animals and listen to the stories he makes up as he plays.  Pete asked that when he turns 26, he get a a tow truck and two broken cars for his birthday.  He requested a wagon for his third birthday, which was much more reasonable 🙂

We took him to the Mystic Aquarium for his birthday, and he loved exploring everything.  He of course liked the blue jellyfish the best and as we were walking around, he told us “this place is wonderful!”

Hanging out the sting rays.

Pete is a sweet boy.  He has so much empathy for others, and is always trying to make people (and animals) feel better. He is compassionate and loves to help people.  He is also very funny and smart.  I am thankful Google exists because some of the questions he comes up with stump me!  Pete is incredibly strong-willed and stubborn (no idea where he gets that from).  He likes things his way, and his way only.  If I finally convince him to do something, he’ll let out this resigned sigh and say “ooookay, Mom” as if he’s 13, not 3.

Pete hugs are the best!

Pete is thriving in his new role as big brother.  He loves James and he loves to help take care of James.  When James cries, he stops what he’s doing and sings “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” while standing as close as possible to James.  It’s pretty cute!  He’s also asking lots of questions about Brienna, and when we passed a cemetery recently, he asked if he and doggie (his constant companion) could go to Heaven and visit her.  He was so sincere and so sweet; it broke and melted my heart.

We love our sweet Pete and are so proud of him!

James – Two Month Update

It’s hard to believe James is already two months old!  He had his well visit at the pediatrician this morning and weighs 12 lbs. 6 oz. and is 22 inches long.  James is a pretty content little guy. He is smiling a lot now, and it’s the cutest thing ever.  He coos and “talks” and we love it! I forgot how mesmerizing a baby can be.  There are many days I don’t get much done at all around the house because I just stare at him! James loves his brother and will dish out the biggest smiles for him. James is truly a beautiful baby and we’re loving every minute with our happy littlest guy!

Touch a Truck

We went to a “Touch a Truck” event this morning,  which is pretty much Pete’s dream come true!  There were fire trucks, police cars, dump trucks, excavators, city buses and school buses to name a few. Pete was a little shy to start the day, and didn’t want to actually go in any of the vehicles, but he warmed up pretty quickly and as long as there wasn’t a big crowd, he climbed right on/in.  His favorite activity of the day was a train ride on “Thomas” around the parking lot.  It was the first thing we had to do, and he was so excited about it.  We had a fun morning and look forward to many more events just like it!2014-04-18

James – One Month Update

It is hard to believe that James is already a month old!  Time is flying by and it seems like the last month  passed in a complete blur.  Our littlest guy is doing great. He had his one month appointment at the pediatrician and weighs 10 lbs, 7 oz and is 21.25″ tall!

Can't believe my little guy is already a month old! #timeflies

We are totally smitten with James.  He is starting to smile and (almost) coo, and is mostly laid back with the exception of a few hours at night!  He is incredibly strong and always moving but loves to snuggle and be held too.  We’re excited to see what month #2 has in store for him!

James Patrick Marr

The newest MiniMarr has arrived!  Our son, James Patrick,  was born on February 20, 2014 at 9:21AM.  He was 20 inches long and weighed in at 8 lbs. 5 oz.

Pete didn’t quite know what to make of his new little brother.  He was pretty convinced our baby was a girl (which made us think so too!) and didn’t seem to quite grasp the concept that the baby in my belly was actually James.  He was spoiled rotten with big brother presents, and hammed it up for the camera before agreeing to be in a family photo!

The Marr Family

When I first saw James, I was struck  by how much he looked like Brienna and Pete when they were born.  When we saw James for the first time, Pat said “Pete!” and then we both laughed because we didn’t even have a boy’s name picked out yet!  James sometimes looks like a miniature version of Pete, but he’s starting to look like himself too.  He’s so cute and sweet (Sweet Baby James is very appropriate for him!) and is a pretty laid back little guy.  He is mild mannered and gentle; he fusses when he’s hungry and only really cries when he’s in need of a diaper change.  Pete is adjusting to his new role, and loves to be our special helper.  He oversees all diaper changes and lets us know when he thinks James needs something.  So far, so good … James fits right into our little family and we are so happy he’s here!
