2nd Trimester!

Monday marked the beginning of my 14th week of pregnancy, the official start of the second trimester – it seems like such a long time ago that we found out we were pregnant, yet it still feels so new and exciting!  It’s a relief to be in the second trimester, because the risk of miscarriage decreases significantly … and I finally told my boss at work, which means the cat is officially out of the bag.  Now at least everyone will know that there is a reason I walk around with a goofy grin on my face all day!  According to babycenter.com, this week MM can “squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. He now measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces.”  Crazy huh?

We can’t wait to see everyone on Thanksgiving!!

  1. I love reading about your thoughts & feelings as you go through your pregnancy as well as the updates on MM. I heard the music from the Marr Family’s First Music Video at work when I was relieving on a case. I, too, had a goofy grin on my face (I was picturing Bailey with her head out the car window!). Great job, I love you both!

Laurie, congrats on passing your CCRN exam!

  2. Just wait until MM is born. The faces they make as newborns are priceless! (I, for one, have convinced myself that Abby smiles AT me … and it’s not just a reflex!) Happy 2nd Tri! xoxo

  3. Aah I remember those days lol. How exciting!!! It goes by fast so try and enjoy it (I know it’s nerve wracking too but really it is an amazing time). I started feeling Nia when I wasn’t too much further along than you are now. You’re going to have so much fun!!!
    xoxo

Congratulations on your latest achievement in nursing certification! Patrick happily called me last night with the news that you passed your exam yesterday, and can now add Critical Care Registered Nurse to your resume. Good for you! Michael and I are also glad to hear that you are feeling well as you enter your second trimester of pregnancy…Love the MM name, too! Take care. Love, Mom Marr
